CFB Daily Plays 9-4

CFB Daily Plays

Thursday was an interesting night for the first college football slate. Several of the games were a little lower scoring than expected but we managed to cash 2 of the 3 total FD lineups in tournaments and we swept cash games on DraftKings and Fantasy Aces. Tonight we have a much shorter slate with some very heavy overlap expected due to the Baylor game. I recommend playing much lighter than your normal volume tonight or sitting out all together if you’re not comfortable with the slate… we will have plenty of CFB action tomorrow with multiple slates. Tonight we will have 1 cash and 1 GPP lineup for both FanDuel and DraftKings and 1 Cash lineup for Fantasy Aces. The write-up will be much shorter today too because of the the clear cut situations to target.

  • Seth Russell
  • Connor Cook
  • Ryan Finely
  • Wes Lunt

Seth Russell is the clear cut top play at QB tonight and should be one of our primary focus in cash games when building your lineups. Baylor is going to come out firing and run the score up as much as possible and Russell is going to be heavily involved in the DFS scoring. Connor Cook is easily the next in line option to Russell as a returning starter for a team that lost it’s star running back. This is just a very short and clear cut slate… I would keep your QB selections to one of these 4 players.

Running Backs

  • Shock Linwood
  • Josh Ferguson
  • Madre London
  • Jeremy McNichols
  • Johnny Jefferson
  • Devin Chafin

Once again we will be heavily targetting Baylor with Shock Linwood as the clear cut top play at running back. Johnny Jefferson (DraftKings value) and Devin Chafin (FanDuel value) are both in play in all formats as well. The first and second units should both have big games for Baylor tonight against a very weak SMU team. Josh Ferguson and Madre London are next in line plays to Linwood. London is a little bit of an unknown as a first year starter this year but the Western Michigan run defense is awful so he is in play and a fine target on a site like DraftKings where the pricing isn’t quite as sharp. Jeremy McNichols is a decent tournament option as the #1 back for Boise State but I expect most of the Boise attack to come through the air to the returning WR’s on the team.

Wide Receivers

  • Corey Coleman
  • Geronimo Allison
  • KD Cannon
  • Thomas Sperback
  • Jaydon Mickens
  • Shane-Williams Rhodes
  • Jay Lee

Another position and another Baylor player at the top…. Corey Coleman is the clear cut top play at WR tonight on this short slate. While Coleman is the top play, he is still a high variance play because of how well Baylor can spread the ball out. Coleman, Cannon and Lee are the top receiving options in the Baylor offense and all make great plays tonight. After the Baylor offense we will want to focus on the Boise State passing game with Thomas Sperback and Shane-Williams Rhodes. Both of the Boise WR’s are very experienced in this system and should have good years for the Broncos. The other players we are targeting in isolated spots tonight are Geronimo Allison and Jaydon Mickens. Both of these players are fine plays in all formats and excellent tournament plays.

Tight Ends

  • Josiah Price
  • Joshua Perkins
  • Jake Roh
  • Tyler White

Tight end is pretty “blah” like usual but ther are three players who have a legit shot at catching multiple passes with MAYBE a red zone target. Josiah Price is easily the top TE option tonight on FanDuel in the projection model but the game script doesn’t exactly work well here so hopefully he gets involved early in the game. Jake Roh was involved in the Boise attack from time to time last season so he does have some value here tonight. If you’re feeling adventerous you could punt the position with one of the Baylor tightends if you think they could see a few garbage time targets.
