9/28 DFS MLB Daily Plays
Back to our normal 2 Cash, 3 GPP on FanDuel and 1 Cash, 2 GPP on DraftKings tonight.
- Corey Kluber
- Zack Greinke
- Lance Lynn
- J.A. Happ
- Yordano Ventura
- Lance McCullers
- Hector Santiago
- Justin Verlander
- Jake Peavy
- Roenis Elias
Corey Kluber and Zack Greinke are in a tier of their own tonight and Kluber gets the nod as the best value play on the slate where he is almost $3,000 cheaper than Greinke on FanDuel. Neither team really has much to play for with the Indians missing the playoffs and the Dodgers having already locked up a playoff spot. I’m a little surprised Greinke is even making this start with some of the injury concerns, but he makes a great tournament play tonight at his elevated price point.
With the lack of extreme hitting enviornments tonight there really isn’t any reason to dip below Kluber in cash games on single pitcher sites like FanDuel. If you’re looking for a little more value I think I would look to a guy like Hector Santiago against the A’s. The Angels are fighting for their playoff lives and they get a nice matchup with Felix Doubront tonight which should provide enough run support for Santiago to pick up those valuable win points on FanDuel.
DFS MLB Catcher Recommendations
- Steve Clevenger
- J.R. Murphy
- Victor Martinez
- Chris Iannetta
Tonight is one of the weakest slates for catcher I can remember in the last 3 years of playing daily fantasy baseball. There really isn’t a single player that rates high enough to be used based on our criteria for the position. Unfortunately we still have to use the position so Victor Martinez becomes the top target tonight. The Tigers are on the road so that will guarantee a 9th inning at the plate for the team which gives Victor a good change of an extra AB tonight. Victor is having a pretty poor year but he has a nice lineup spot in an offense that has plenty of power.
1st Base Rankings
- Albert Pujols
- Edwin Encarnacion
- Miguel Cabrera
- Prince Fielder
- Carlos Santana
- Eric Hosmer
Edwin Encarnacion earns the top spot tonight in a nice matchup with Chris Tillman. Many of you know we love to target Edwin in R vs R matchups and tonight is no different against Tillman who actually shows reverse splits of his own. Edwin represents one of the best HR probabilities in all of baseball tonight on the road in Baltimore.
Albert Pujols and the Angels are in must win mode and they get a nice matchup against a lefty tonight as they take on Felix Doubront. Pujols definitely isn’t the hitter he once was, but he is one of the stronger plays at 1st base tonight with David Ortiz and Anthony Rizzo out of the lineup for their teams.
Carlos Santana is now a viable option with the Twins making a pitching change to Tommy Milone tonight. Santana makes a nice contrarian play where he ranks just below guys like Pujols and Fielder but carries a similar (slightly higher) price tag on FanDuel.
2nd Base Rankings
- Jose Altuve
- Robinson Cano
- Jason Kipnis
Jose Altuve is the clear cut top play here tonight where the Astros are basically playing must win games. If you have been with us for a while you know we love to target Altuve against LHP and tonight is no different against Elias in Seattle. Altuve is the safest source of production at the position and you could argue that he has the most upside as well. As we get to crunch time we gain extra value with Altuve because he is likely going to be looking to run as much as possible once he gets on base.
3rd Base Rankings
- Alex Rodriguez
- Josh Donaldson
- Manny Machado
- Chase Headley
Third base is another position that has a pretty clear focus for cash games tonight with Alex Rodriguez/Chase Headley and Manny Machado. A-Rod and Machado both play in hitters parks against vulnerable pitchers. The Yankess are 1 win shy of 10,000 franchise wins and they could clinch a playoff spot with a win tonight… Narrative Street residents are possibly looking for an A-Rod walk off winner! I won’t project a walk off win but I do think A-Rod has a nice game and helps lock up that playoff spot in front of the home crowd.
- Carlos Correa
- Jhonny Peralta
- Erick Aybar
- Francisco Lindor
Carlos Correa earns the top spot once again. The gap between Correa and the rest is rather large thanks to the unique power and speed skill set the youngster brings to the plate each night. Correa and the Astros could really use a win tonight on the road in Seattle.
Erick Aybar is the most realistic cash game option if you can’t afford the price tag on Correa. Aybar and the Angels are in must win mode tonight and he is leading off on the road so there is high probability of the extra AB tonight.
